To those that have never attended one, LAN parties are more or less nerd-fests, hosted in order to provide a social aspect to video gaming. LANs are a great way to play and talk about the latest video games with people of common interests.
“Why would I want to go to a LAN? I can just play online.”
The answer is simply “to meet hot babes”, but more specifically, a LAN provides a way for you to see the expression on your friend’s face while you pound his character’s ass to pulp while you scream something like “YOU DEAD NOW SUCKA!”. More fun than being online, no?
At BurningLAN, we tend to draw more of PC crowd but strongly welcome all Xbox 360, PS3 and yes, even Wii players to attend. Various group games will be set up including Rock Band and Super Smash Bros.
What to bring to a LAN?
- BRING AN ETHERNET CABLE! Ten feet or so should do the trick. Don’t have an Ethernet cable? Neither do we.
- BurningLAN is a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) event. Duh.
- Bring a monitor, keyboard and mouse. If you don’t we’ll lawl at your expense.
- Bring headphones. Speakers will not be permitted. Seriously. Nobody wants to hear “We Are The Champions”, even if you think they do.
- Make sure your video games are patched and up to date. If you tell us you can’t connect to our game servers, and we find out you’re not patched, we’ll take a golfclub to your face.
Doing these things will make your LANing experience much more enjoyable.
